Trained clinicians are available by telephone 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide emergency mental health services for children and adults in psychiatric crisis.

Crisis Response Services for Adults

United Services’ Crisis Response Mobile Team is available to assist adults, ages 18+, in crisis throughout Northeastern Connecticut by phone or in-person in our clinics or in the community. The Team can provide critical intervention and support for a variety of situations including:

  • Severe depression
  • Suicidal thoughts or threats
  • Extreme stress
  • Other critical mental health issues

Our Crisis Response staff can provide immediate intervention, immediate support and connection to treatment. Services include:

  • Assessment of needs and connection to treatment services
  • Assistance and support while getting connected to treatment
  • De-escalation of crisis situations
  • Coordination with community providers

Crisis Response Services for Children

We offer both phone or office support for children through the age of 17 years. Children are evaluated and assessed for treatment needs.  Our crisis team can provide:

  • Referral for another level of care
  • Screening and assessment for outpatient treatment
  • Coordination with community providers
  • De-escalation of crisis situations

Funding for our emergency mental health services is provided in part by the CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). 

United Services offers a Sliding Scale Fee Program for people who do not have insurance or whose income is insufficient to pay outstanding balances.
